Copa de Campeones y Subcampeones CONCACAF 1979

Northern Section

Round 1 U.A.N.L. Mex U.N.A.M. Mex x x CONCACAF listed a series between U.A.N.L. and an USA team called Soccer Universidad AC supposedly played on Jul. 22 & 29 (2-0 and 1-0); for many years the identity of Soccer Universidad was unknown because there are no records on the USA league system of those years; a recent investigation showed that U.A.N.L.'s real opponents were Pumas U.N.A.M. from Mexico, runners-up in the 1977-78 season, but no matches were played as U.N.A.M. withdrew after not reaching an agreement on the dates.
