Red card: Magnus Kihlstedt (47), Brann. - A big surprise in Bergen, where the highly ranked Brann side lost at home to LSK. The visitors, which lost all their prolific players were helped by the sending off of Brann goalkeeper Kihlstedt for a professional foul, even though they were 1-0 ahead at the time. A big disappointment for Brann, and a pleasant encouragement for Lillestrøm. Rosenborg - Moss 5-0 (1-0) Lerkendal stadion Att: 11 680 1-0 Sigurd Rushfeldt (32) 2-0 Jan Derek Sørensen (48) 3-0 Tore André Dahlum (62) 4-0 Rushfeldt (73) 5-0 Rushfeldt (84) - As expected Rosenborg continued where they let off in 1998 and crushed Moss at home. Top scorer Rushfeldt also continued where he let off last season scoring three goals which immediately puts him on top amnong the goal scorers. Stabæk - Skeid 5-0 (1-0) Nadderud stadion Att: 4239 1-0 Stein Petter Eidal (o.g. 8) 2-0 Petter Belsvik (pen. 46) 3-0 Tommy Svindal Larsen (53) 4-0 Helgi Sigurdsson (57) 5-0 Martin Andresen (64) Yellow card: Erik Noppi, Skeid. - Another 5-0 win for one of the other championship contenders, Stabæk. Newly promoted Skeid, did nothing to unjustify the experts' verdict that they will finish in the bottom position. If the home finishing hadn't been so sloppy at times, the win could have been in double figures. Strømsgodset - Kongsvinger 2-1 (0-0) Marienlyst stadion Att: 5391 1-0 Jostein Flo (55) 2-0 Flo (pen. 73) 2-1 Andreas Alm (pen. 76) Yellow card: Vegard Strøm, Kenneth Karlsen, Strømsgodset, Steinar Dagur Adolfsson, Caleb Francis, Kongsvinger. Red card: Eirik Dybendahl (72), Kongsvinger. - Jostein Flo was once more the saviour for SIF, scoring both goals and giving the home side a perfect start. KIL could only respond with a late penalty. Both these teams are expected to have a troubled season. Viking - Odd Grenland 1-2 (1-2) Stavanger stadion Att: 9170 0-1 Frode Johnsen (2) 0-2 Christian Flindt Bjerg (11) 1-2 Morten Berre (45) - The biggest surprise of the day happened in Stavanger, where newcomers and the team with most Norwegian cup wins under their belt, Odd, made a storming come back to the top division after 31 years of absence. The visitors even missed a penalty in the first half. The highly regarded home side was clearly surprised by the offensive play of Odd, and never really threatened to equalize in the second half. Molde - Tromsø 4-0 (2-0) Molde stadion Att: 7507 1-0 Andreas Lund (18) 2-0 Knut Anders Fostervold (25) 3-0 Odd Inge Olsen (54) 4-0 Lund (70) - Another big home win for one of the championship contenders. Molde outplayed TIL in every department, and showed that they will be up there fighting for the title like last year. TIL should forget about this game as soon as possible. Vålerenga - Bodø/Glimt 1-1 (1-1) Bislett stadion Att: 8022 0-1 Eivind Eriksen (15) 1-1 Pascal Simpson (pen. 33) Yellow card: Andreas Evjen, Lee Robertson, Ørjan Berg, Bodø/Glimt. - The game was played on a field which was more yellow than green. The visitors took a deserved lead when Eriksen shot past replacement goalkeeper Bolthof, who otherwise had a very impressive game for a 3rd ranked keeper. Swede Simpson equalized from the spot, and in the second half the home side should have scored the winner, but striker Carew had a very quiet day, and all other efforts were wasted.
