M70 and comet Hale-Bopp (original) (raw)

Comet Hale-Bopp near globular cluster M70, photographed by Wayne Johnson of the Orange County Astronomerswith the 22-inch f/8 Kuhn Telescope on July 24, 1995 at 06:43 UT, 1 day after the comet's discovery. This image was obtained with the OCA CCD camera, exposed 30 sec, at their Anza Observatory.

This is probably the first photo of this comet which later became a really Great Comet.
