Probably discovered by Hodierna before 1654.
Discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1783.

NGC 752 is a bright but scattered open cluster in Andromeda.

It was probably discovered by Hodierna before 1654, together with M33. Afterwards, it was not found again until Caroline Herschel observed it on September 29, 1783, and added it to her listas No. 13.William Herschel added it to his catalog as H VII.32 based on his observation of September 21, 1786.

NGC 752 consists of over 60 stars of magnitudes 8.96 and fainter. The hottest stars are of spectral type A2, indicating a rather high age of 1.1 billion years (Sky Catalog 2000).

The image in this page was obtained by Till Credner and Sven Kohle. It was cropped from a larger image, which they had obtained within their Constellations Andromeda and Triangulum photography; this is a color film image, taken on October 30, 1995, 00:40 UT from Calar Alto by Till Credner, exposed 30 min through a 55mm f/3.5 photo lens on Kodak Ektachrome 400 Elite - original field of view was 24 x 35 deg.
