ener-chi art - Andreas Moritz - The Skeptic's Dictionary (original) (raw)
Ener-chi art is the creation of Andreas Moritz (1954-2012), who called himself amedical intuitive, a practitioner of Ayurveda, iridology, shiatsu, and vibrational medicine. Moritz, like many New Age energy "healers," believed chi is a life-force energy that is unbalanced when we're ill and is balanced when we are healthy. He also believed his art "is imbued with light-encoded energies" that correspond to bodily organs, an idea that may have come to him from his work in iridology. He offers for sale a variety of paintings that allegedly heal the blood, the brain, the eyes, and various other organs. When viewed, he said, his art brings about "very profound changes ... in the life energy field corresponding to that organ." For example, he said:
if one looks at the painting that corresponds to the heart -- even for only about a minute -- very profound changes occur in the life energy field corresponding to that organ. The flow of chi becomes fully restored, and any thought forms or emotional imbalances that have been locked in the cellular structure of that organ are systematically transmuted and released.
He doesn't say whether the same effect can be achieved by viewing a copy of the art on his website or whether the effect comes only if the patient buys the relevant poster art.
Moritz also claimed that every cell and organ in the body has its ownaura and that the trillions of little auras comprise a big aura for each body. The body's aura "goes beyond physical parameters, yet it influences physical life more than anything else." How he knew any of these things is anybody's guess, but it sounds like he graduated from the school of MSU (making stuff up).
Our aura also affects the atmosphere of the Earth with specific encodements [?], both positive and negative. Thus, negative thoughts and beliefs, emotional trauma, and other experiential episodes get caught up in the ionosphere of the Earth, possibly triggering major global disturbances that affect the population, wildlife, and climate of the planet as a whole.
No wonder climate science is so difficult. It has to take into account the effect of gazillions of cells on the ionosphere! Moritz has the answer, however: he has six ener-chi paintings "designed to heal the Earth and her environment." According to Moritz:
...one is meant to heal and awaken energies in the mountain and rock structures of the planet; another one has a similar effect on the rivers, lakes and seas.
He doesn't mention whether he has an ener-chi painting to mitigate the effects of greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide.
Moritz claims that his ener-chi art affects the human body so that something "spirals out from our 'light body' to the universe."
It cleanses the aura as well as the physical and mental bodies, and balances the chi force throughout the body. Similar to the process of osmosis, it transports energy in and out of the body without any disruption. This effect occurs instantly and can be verified through a simple muscle testing procedure applied both before and after viewing the Ener-Chi Art pictures. It can also be made visible to the eye by taking auric photographs of the body.
I assume the muscle-testing procedure Moritz is referring to isapplied kinesiology, a procedure that has been thoroughly debunked. The "auric photographs" refer to Kirlian photography, a popular New Age diagnostic tool that has been exposed as bogus by many scientists. Rather than measure psychic energies, Kirlian photography shows the effects of quite natural phenomena such as pressure, electrical grounding, humidity, and temperature. Changes in moisture (which may reflect changes in emotions), barometric pressure, and voltage, among other things, will produce different 'auras'.
Another unverified and extraordinary claim made by Moritz is that his ener-chi art:
...is designed to activate the codes within the DNA structure that are linked with total immunity to disease and full use of the body's enormous, but so far untapped, potential.
The claim to be able to activate DNA by light emanating from paintings demands extraordinary proof, but Moritz provides nothing except a reference to muscle testing and Kirlian photographs as evidence of this extraordinary claim.
At least the claim to activate DNA is comprehensible. Some of Moritz's claims defy understanding. For example, he says ener-chi art:
...assists in raising the body's frequencies and loosening its density, so that one will be able to live and function in higher dimensions than is currently possible. Direct access to these realms will remove fear from life and replace it with the powerful love energies that are capable of accomplishing almost anything without effort or struggle.
I have no idea what this might mean, and I doubt Moritz does either.
In any case, some who might be skeptical of Moritz's claims about the healing power of his art, might findsome of his pictures interesting. I especially like the endocrine system picture, which reminds me of a Rorschach Navaho sand painting.
Ener-chi art is only one of Moritz's intuitive creations. Even more extraordinary is what he calls Sacred Santémony, his energy wizardry employing sound instead of light. Most extraordinary, however, is what Moritz says about cancer:
Constant conflicts, guilt and shame, for example, can easily paralyze the body’s most basic functions, and lead to the growth of a cancerous tumor.
Don't expect reference to the scientific studies that support this unfounded New Age idea regarding so-called mind-body medicine. There is no scientific evidence worthy of the name that supports the notion that guilt or shame cause cancer. He seems to have derived many of his outlandish cancer ideas from Germanic New Medicine.
