Report

Scot youngster, John Higgins won his sixth ranking event and his first of the season, by beating three-time defending champion, John Parrott 9-5 in the final. The victory gave him £60,000.

Higgins got off to a brilliant start and established a 6-2 lead. He then showed signs of his inability to finish off matches, and Parrott got within two frames of the Scot, at 7-5. Then Higgins improved his play though, and sailed home to a fairly comfortable win. He has now cemented his No.2 spot behind Hendry in the provisional rankings. Parrott moved up two places, to third.

Chris Small had the highest break in the tournament, a 141 total clearance.
