Graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute, 1985; Colonel, Soviet Air Force, Res.; test pilot; was selected as cosmonaut on 02.09.1985 (GKNII-2); 1988 transferred toTsPK-9;OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 11/85 - 12/87; hobbies: Hunting, team games; he was assigned as commander forSoyuz TM-24 but grounded five days before launch, because of heart problems; later he worked in theTsPK; since 2000 retired.
