György Jaros was born at Budapest on 22 February 1940 and moved to South Africa in 1958, where many people call him Gyuri or George. He studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand and obtained a PhD in Physiology at the University of Pretoria.

1978-1979: Associate Professor, Department of Physiology and Biophysics, University of Mississippi Medical Centre, Jackson, USA
1980-1994: Hyman Goldberg Professor and Head Engineering Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital
1987-1994: Part-time Consultant to High Rustenburg Hydro, Stellenbosch: Stress Management and Thinking Strategies
1995-2004: Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering (Research) in the Department of Anaesthetics, University of Sydney, Australia
2004: Associate Professor of Physiology, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Bond University, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, until 2005
György Jaros has developed the Biomatrix Theory
He has two daughters, Stephanie and Erica, and a son, Gustav, from his first marriage, and is married to Lilyan Nuss.
One of his hobbies is painting birds.
