Disused Stations: Ballavolley Halt (original) (raw)

Notes: During the Summer of 1965 a wildlife park was opened adjacent to the St Johns to Ramsey railway between Ballaugh and Sulby by the Manx Government. The park was called the Curraghs Wildlife Park and to serve it the Isle of Man Railway opened a halt which was called Ballavolley Halt for Wildlife Park. The halt consisted of nothing more than a sign. There where no platforms and no facilities. The station closed at the end of the Summer of 1965 along with the St Johns to Ramsey line and all of its other stations.

On the 4.6.1967 the line and halt was re-opened but it was now simply known as Wildlife Park. However this was not to last for long as once again the entire line closed on the 6.9.1968 this time for good. Today nothing remains of the station but the wildlife park is still in operation.

During the 19th century there was a freight facility at or near the site of Ballavolley Station but passengers were not carried.
