Daigo-ji Temple, Kyoto
Founded by the monk Shobo (Rigen Daishi) in 874, Daigo-ji lies just outside Kyoto and the mountain-top Kami Daigo-ji is the 11th stop on the Saigoku Kannon pilgrimage.
Shrine dedicated to Benten.
The temple's five-storey pagoda was built in 951 and is the oldest wooden structure in Kyoto prefecture.
