History in a Pecan Shell
Pettibone's history could be written on the back of a fortune cookie's fortune.
The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad laid tracks through the area in 1881. That seems to have been Pettibone's one big event.
Histories aren't sure who Mr. Pettibone was - although he is thought to have worked for the railroad.
Pettibone had a population of 20 in the 1930s and has soared to 25 by the 1990s.
