Val Verde, Texas. (original) (raw)

History on a Pinhead
Established just after the Civil War, the town was named for the battle of Valverde in New Mexico since part of the Confederate forces were made up of Milam County soldiers. In 1903 the community had a school for 26 students taught by a single teacher. Val Verde seems to have been devoid of any excitement or disasters for the next 100 years and remains a tranquil part of Milam County.
