History in a Pecan Shell
Named after early settler L.C. Wright in 1851, the post office opened under the spelling of Wrightsborough in 1869. The name was abbreviated in the 1870s. A store opened in 1875 and nine years later 70 people called the place home. In 1889 a hotel and a Masonic hall were in operation. Children were taught at various locations until a proper school was constructed in the early 1900s. The population was around 100 in the 1920s, with no reports for the 30s. The Wrightsboro school consolidated with Gonzales' ISD in 1947.
The community can now be described as 'dispersed' although it maintains a population of seventy-six according to the state highway map.
