1936 Centennial Marker: (US Hwy. 83, 3.7 miles N of Carrizo Springs) DIMMIT COUNTY
Created February 1, 1858
organized November 2, 1880
Named in honor of Philip Dimmitt, a pioneer trader and captain in the Texas Army who died in 1841.
