I love history. Next I love writing. So it comes naturally that I love writing about history - especially about my beautiful home, the Red River Valley.

Born in gay Par-ee on the Prairie (translation: Paris, Texas), I've grown up around the Red River pretty much all my life, save for eight years living in Germany after my father passed away. There, I lived in a little town called Dattlen, which considered itself the "Canal Cross Roads of Europe" - and if that ain't a selling point, then I don't know what is. As many as five canals, each emptying into the Rhine, met behind my grandmother's house. What's more, my Texan grandmother lived about 2 miles as the crow flies from the old Albion Ferry Crossing in Red River County, tending store and tellling tales. So I guess from way back, I've been a canal/river rat.

Along with writing articles about my corner of Texas, I'm in the

process of writing a few books, and I publish a paid subscription newsletter, Red River Historian. It's aimed for people who are curious about the rich history of the Red River Valley - both Texas and Oklahoma sides.

A big thank you goes here to Texas Escapes for their genorosity in accepting my very first article. Look me up at my web-card, http://www.redriverhistorian.com!
