History in a Pecan Shell
Settlement occurred sometime prior to the establishment of a school in the mid 1880s. The community was granted a post office which operated briefly. The community had the school and church in the 1930s along with a cemetery and scattered residences. The school was later consolidated with nearby Clayton, leaving just the cemetery and church. It has since been designated a "dispersed rural community." The population was given as 87 for both the 1990 and 2000 census.
