A shed in Gould Texas

History in a Pecan Shell

Gould began life as a stop on the International-Great Northern railroad in the 1870s. From 1905 to 1918 the town had its own post office but the population in 1914 was just 80 residents.

The community's store managed to hold on through the Great Depression, but post war prosperity led the residents to seek job opportunities in larger cities. Gould was listed as a "dispersed community" in the 1990s.
