History in a Pecan ShellSettled in the 1860s, the town was granted a post office in 1880. By the middle of that decade there were only 25 residents but the amenities included a store, gristmill, gin, school and church. The post office moved to Flint in 1904 and the town became on stop on Flint�s route.
By 1910 the population had increased to 100 in 1910, and a road was built connecting the town to Tyler. During the Great Depression the population decreased to 56 � a figure that was in use through 1980. By 1952 the local schools merged into a single Independent School District, and by 1964 the last business closed. The Noonday ISD merged with the Bullard ISD in the late 1960s. In the late 1980s the town finally shed the population figure of 56 � and reported 385 residents which has since increased to 515.
