History on a Pinhead

OFarrell was first settled in the 1870s. The town had a post office from 1886 through 1905. In 1890 the post office was located inside the store of W. S. Thompson. In the mid 1890s the community had an additional store and a cotton gin.

The population peaked in the 1940s when 40 residents lived here. The town never developed a center and its growth may have been hampered by its proximity to Atlanta.

Today the towns most noticeable features are the Baptist Church and the cemetery. The population has been given as 20 from the early 1980s.
