Pleasant Ridge, Texas, Panola County. (original) (raw)

History in a Pecan Shell
Now known as dispersed rural community, Pleasant Ridge was just walking distance to the county seat which probably hampered prospects of growth. It was formed sometime after the Civil War and seems to have peaked in the 1930s when it had two stores, a school and several residences. After the school merged with those in Carthage after WWII, the thin identity Pleasant Ridge had held got even thinner.
