History in a Pecan Shell
Originally, Rocky Mound was a Black community centered around a school in the late 1890s. A church was added sometime prior to 1908.
Rocky Mound never seems to have developed a town center but by the end of WWII, the community had added another church and a cemetery. It incorporated in the 1970s and by the 1980 census, Rocky Mound reported a population of 123 which has since decline to less than 100 residents.
