About Peary Perry

First off, I was born during the war and according to my parents, names were being rationed. My Mom was kind of slow and by the time she got down to the Federal Bureau of Names, all of the Johns, Jims, and Davids were gone. So, according to what I've been toldshe just settled on two names that were the same, but weren't. As in Peary Perry. As you can imagine, I've heard every kind of comment that can be made on this matter since I was born. "Peary Perryquite contrary." and so on and so on. Some people think I'm kidding them. I have contemplated using an alias, but then it kinds of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

I always wanted to write about life in general. I like people and think that we need to see the bright side of just about everything, if we can. Some years ago, a friend started a newspaper and asked me to write a weekly humor column for him. I goofed around and didn't really put out much effort. I ended up in a creative writing course in a local college. The instructor asked if any of us had been published. I raised my hand. He asked how often I wroteand I told him whenever I got the time.He then asked me "If you have an opportunity to write and you don't why are you in this course?" I didn't have an answer, so I went back, sat down and have been knocking these out for the past 6 years or so.

My columns are about life and it's many mysteries. I try to blend humor, satire, sadness and laughter to everything I write and I am always looking for sources of another story. Writing is a great hobby for me, but is therapeutic as well. If I can write something that you agree with or that makes you smile and have a better daythen all of my efforts are certainly worthwhile. I'll keep on cranking these out as long as you keep reading.
