Christmas Gift. (original) (raw)

Oh how we practice
to deceive
preparing gifts
for Christmas Eve,
for little tykes
who can't believe
the many gifts
about to receive

Excitedly
the gifts are found,
passed one by one
to those around,
each bag or box
alike astounds
in opening
delight abounds

The children's joy
in eyes and smiles
their sweet expressions
that beguile,
their laughter amidst
high paper piles
makes Christmas giving
all worthwhile

The gift of Christmas
is the sight
of love exchanged
in pure delight,
If only we had
Christmas cheer
more often than
just once a year.
