God And West Texas. (original) (raw)

When god was makin' texas
he started in the east
and filled the place with godliness
andbeautiful pinetrees

It was such a paradise
even he could not believe
this placethathe calledTexas
would be his masterpiece

Then off he went creatin'
still makin' lots of trees
all the wayout toWest Texas
he got thereeventually

But he was out of business
creationnota breeze
by plantin' all the way across Texas
he just ran out of trees

Now here was his dilemma
no trees were left to please
so he madesomethorny cactus
and left some tumbleweeds

The rest he just leftbarren
as far as eyes can see
that's whythere's plains in Texas
why West Texas has no trees!
