Imogene was one of three towns named after the daughters of developer Charles F. Simmons. The other two are Charlotte and Christine
It had a post office for less than a year. Although census figures aren't available, there were 49 students enrolled in Imogene's school in 1934.
During WWII, the Humble Oil Company built a housing development for its employees there, but Imogene was dropped from maps sometime in the 1980s.
