Kittie, Texas, aka Kittie West, Texas, Live Oak County. (original) (raw)

History in a Pecan Shell

AKA Kittie West, the town is sometimes misspelled as Kittle. It was named after George West's wife in the early 1900s.

A developer had high hopes for the town but his death in 1926 changed everything. Cattle was still shipped from Kittie on the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad, but the town never became a rival to the town of George West. Its school merged with the George West ISD during WWII, and today there is no apparent sign that the town was ever there.
