Orangedale, Texas, Bee county. (original) (raw)

History in a Pecan Shell
Originally part of the Wangeman Ranch, Orangedale came into being around 1906 when the land was sub-divided into small farms. The word went out that citrus and other fruits could be grown with ease and the freshly-minted name of the community advertised the fact.
Improvements to Orangedale were modest and commercially didnt extend beyond a store and gas station. At its peak Orangedale had two schools, but state mandated consolidation erased those.

There's a small group of residences along the road where the old townsite once was. Friendship Baptist Church about a mile north of the old townsite still serves the community. - Will Beauchamp, Oct. 2009
