Pawelekville, Texas, or Carvajal Crossing, Texas. (original) (raw)
History in a Pecan Shell
Prior to 1947 the community had been called Carvajal Crossing since it was near a ford on Cibolo Creek by that name. It was renamed after the Pawelek family.
The only population figures available were from the mid 1960s when 75 people lived around the businesses on the highway. Detailed TxDoT maps of Karnes County do not show a cemetery for the community.

Pawelekville, Texas Forum
Your photo entitled signs of the times is 8 miles south of Kosciusko at the Intersection of Highway 123 and FM 887 in a town known as Pawelekville. Pawelekville is even easier to miss than Kosciusko. Only one orange blinking light on HW 123 and a 45mph speed limit sign mark the town.
Its good to know that someone takes the time to keep up with the history of the lesser known areas that are barely considered towns. Thanks for that. - David Scheffler, Kosciusko, Texas, November 26, 2005
