Rachal, Texas, Brooks County. (original) (raw)
History in a Pecan Shell
Not a first name, but a surname, the communitys namesake was Brooks County tax assessor E. R. Rachal.
Established in 1913, the community only had a population of ten in 1936. This swelled to 40 in the mid 1940s when the residents were served by two stores.
The population seems quite comfortable being between thirty and forty (since the 1960s). The dispersed community had 36 people for both the 1990 and 2000 census.
