Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area
"The Devils Sinkhole State Natural Area is comprised of 1,850 acres of rugged ranchland. The former Whitworth Ranch is now owned by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept.
The Devils Sinkhole can be found 8 miles NE of Rocksprings Texas and is accessable through approved tours which start at the visitors center at the Courthouse Square.
The Devils Sinkhole is the largest single chamber cavern in the state of Texas and third deepest measuring over 350 feet deep. The cave is home to 1 to 4 million Mexican-Free tail bats during the summer and they emerge each evening to fly to agricultural areas to the east and southeast were they feast on insects, mostly moths & agricultural pest." -
