Robstown, Texas Post Office Mural. (original) (raw)

Robstown, Texas Post Office Mural
Photographer's Note:
At the Robstown Post Office we found this mural high on the wall. Its top is apparently at the buildings original ceiling level. It is more than four feet high by twelve feet wide. It is signed by Alice Reynolds and was painted in 1941.
At this post office a modern drop-down ceiling has been installed at some point which houses recessed fluorescent light fixtures and ceiling tiles. This ceiling has been angularly transitioned adjacent to the mural so as to not cover it.
We were told by a postal worker that the lady in the red dress was purported to be Clara Driscoll of the Driscoll Hotel, Corpus Christi fame and the Alamo land dispute with Adina De Zavala and the DRT. -
