History in a Pecan Shell

The community is not as town per se and only came into existence in the early 1970s as FM 1960 was being developed from a two-lane blacktop road. It didn�t incorporate and is described in the Handbook of Texas as �a large subdivision [with] country clubs and golf courses in the vicinity of Cypress Creek." Outside of the housing, Champions is made up of strip shopping centers, retail businesses and restaurants.
