Elmaton, Texas, Matagorda County. (original) (raw)
History on a Pinhead
The town has virtually no 19th Century history. It did, however, have enough people in 1915 to warrant its own post office. The town was a stop on the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railroad in the mid 1930s when the population was 150. It has remained near that level ever since, reaching a high of 165 for the 1990 census and declining to 140 for 2000.
