Gardendale, Texas, Nueces County. (original) (raw)

History in a Pecan Shell

Gardendale came into being around 1900 when it sprang up between the tracks of the Texas-Mexican Railroad and Alameda Street. It never had a post office but did have a school. There was little commerce other than the establishment of several stores. It would come as a surprise if present-day residents were told that it was once a separate community.
