History in a Pecan Shell

The town that never was but couldve been.

The name Hezekiah Williams is the most important in Hays City history. Its also the only name in Hays City history. Williams was a town builder and he developed his property around 1908 with the intention of stealing the county seat status of San Marcos. While Williams tried hard to lure settlers by building a hotel, store, lumberyard and church, he lured no one away from San Marcos or for that matter, Kyle either. Hays City continues to be shown (barely) on the Hays County map.
