Roca Springs, TX ghost town history, postmark. (original) (raw)
History in a Pecan Shell
No directions, no population and very little history, most of what is known of Roca Springs comes from the research John Germann made for the cover in his vast collection of Texas postmarks:
Post Office Dates of Operation: 1883-1891
First Postmaster: Charles Carroll Gale, landholder, rancher, formerly a railroad superintendent (1833-1891, Postmaster 1883-1889)
Named for the "Rocks" at the site of the springs there.
