History in a Pecan Shell

The name was given for the many curves in the road leading to the former town. A post office operated from 1901 to 1911 and the town once had a gin and of course, a store. At the end of WWII Zigzag had a school and Baptist church, but today only the church remains. Not shown on maps. For travel directions, see photographer's note and forum below.

Photographer's Note

It isn't on any of my maps. If it's six miles west of Devine, it has to be along FM 2200. I took a picture of the Zion Primitive Baptist Church just south of 2200 and the sign to one just north of 2200 on a county road... The Zion Primitive Baptist checks out on distance and name. No sign of other notable structures. The Black Creek Church's sign was more notable than the church, thus no picture. -

Zigzag, Texas Forum

The caption to one of the pictures mentioned the Black Creek Baptist church, where my grandparents went to church (and my mother currently attends), is located at the corner of Co Rd 660 and Co Rd 761. Approximately 1.5 miles north on 660 if you turn right from 2200W.
