Chamberlin, Texas, AKA Chamberlain, Texas, Dallam county ghost town. (original) (raw)

History in a Pecan Shell

Although no early history is available, it is known that the town was alongside the tracks of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad.

Just after WWII, Chamberlin had an estimated population of 50 people served by a single store. It had no post office but mail was routed through Dalhart.

In the 1980s, the Rock Island Line was taken over by the St Louis Southwestern Railway. Chamberlin had been abandoned sometime prior to that.
