Finney, Texas, King County. (original) (raw)

History in a Pecan Shell

The name of the community comes from Finney Springs. Although not exact date is available, its thought to be the early 1900s. The community was able to organize a school in 1912.

Finney sat there for years, weathering the Great Depression and WWII with no disasters to note. The next incident of note came in the mid 1950s when the school merged with those in Guthrie.

100 people made up the population in the 1960s, but had declined to a mere 70 by 1970. The figure was used again in 1990 the last available.
