History in a Pecan Shell

The name is an amalgam taken from the names of D. Luther Laz Green and Andrew Buddie Sherley, who opened the communitys first store in 1924. A post office opened inside the store two years later.

The land, which had been part of the immense XIT Ranch was sold in small parcels, to homesteading families, beginning in 1902. The town grew around the store and by 1930 Lazbuddie opened its second store. Three churches were opened in the thirties, although no population figures are available. After WWII the population was given as 75 residents.

The post office remains where it opened over 80 years ago inside the original Lazbuddie store.
