Record, Texas, Hansford County ghost town. (original) (raw)
History in a Pecan Shell
Settled in the 1880a in hopes of becoming a prosperous wheat-growing and ranching town, Record had a hard time attracting residents. Even with an infusion of people from Illinois and Indiana during the early 1900s, it wasnt until 1925 when the town was granted a post office. It lasted just over three years, closing its doors in April of 1929. People lost heart and whatever the population was, the community was dropped from maps in the 1930s.
