Dear TE,

When I file myself and my siblings and our children in Fort Worth it be the next generation of Crockett descendants in Texas. I have in my hand the processed membership for the Society of Colonial Wars filed in June 12, 1975 by my Uncle Edwin Bert Sayers. I am a direct descendant of Captain Joseph Louis Crockett, Jr. who was born in Donegal, Ireland on May 6, 1697 was a resident of Virginia and died at Shawsville,Virginia (Montgomery County) in 1767. The books that I have are copies of books in the Library of Congress showing that we (my family) decend from France. J.L. Crockett, Sr. was born in France on July 10, 1643 and was the son of Antoine de Saussure-Perronette de Crocketagne.

The paper chroncicles Crockett descendants from France in 1643 to their Texas descendants (and to my Mother's siblings through 1975). We have a bedroom in my grandfather's house in Fort Worth that has been in the family since 1910 where my uncle lives with the documentation. I was brought home to that same house from the hospital in 1958. My uncle has walls of Crockett descendant photos and books that he was worked on since 1970.

My Uncle, Edwin Bert Sayers is now 81 years of age. He is 6'3" and wears a Men's size 15 shoe. (He used to wear size 13 but size 15 "feels better" with his Dr. Scholl's insoles!) Uncle Bert is known to the family as the "gentle giant", and is a kind-hearted Christian soul. He has a great sense of humor and is telling all of the nurses in the hospital that he is 5'15"! He is a real joker and a sweet Christian man. He needs to be tape recorded and soon. He can tell you all of the family history and has documentation that details which boat that the Crocketts came to USA in and on what shore. He has researched and chronicled the Sayers family plantation land that is still in the family in Virginia.

We have unbelievable family history of descendants (Crockett to Sayers) that were an Officer to George Washington (a Sayers), a Gov. of TX in 1898 (Joseph Draper Sayers, my grandfather's cousin with his same name. His painted photo is in Texas State Capitol Rotunda) and also, my great grandmother on Crockett side was Mrs. Baird's sister.

There is a connection to Daniel Boone, also (all documented!) The Hope & Anchor plantation in Virginia is still in the family in Draper's Valley, Virginia. Uncle Bert told me recently that our family (Sayers) go back to Scotland and that Ben Sayers, either was a founder of the game of golf or a co-founder (I may be wrong about that). The photo that I saw was of Ben Sayers at the famous St. Andrews golf course in Scotland. Also, it was discovered that the Sayers family forged some of the musket balls that were used at Valley Forge. Aside from all of the unbelievable family history...my Uncle Bert tells me that he recently discovered that John Thompson (Crockett/Sayers descendant) was one of several men credited with to bringing Christianity to the United States and that is Uncle Bert's proudest claim.
