New Art Museum for Southern Vermont

The Elizabeth deC. Wilson Museum, opening the Summer of 2000 at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, is a fine arts facility to display the Arts Center's 800-piece permanent collection and special traveling exhibitions from major museums such as the Metropolitan Museum, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the National Gallery.. Designed by world-renowned architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen, the plans project state-of-the-art exhibition spaces in a beautiful building nestled into the Center's 407 acre natural setting. Jacobsen's work includes the West Terrace addition to the U.S. Capitol, the renovation and addition to the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, the Museum and Art School in Athens, Greece, and the renovation of the U.S. Embassy in Paris.
