Plains Art Museum Names Edward E. Pauley as President/C.E.O

The Plains Art Museum has named Edward E. Pauley as its president/C.E.O. He will begin his duties at the Plains Art Museum in mid-May, 2003. He has an extensive background in museums and in education. He is leaving his position as executive director of the Cultural Center of Fine Arts in Parkersburg, W.Va. to take the position in Fargo.

Pauley visited the Plains Art Museum in January as part of the search process. After his visit, he said, "The museum's commitment to the community and to the region is evident in the quality of its exhibits and educational programming. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to lead such a fine organization." Pauley, his wife Kellie, and two daughters will make their home in Fargo.

Pauley also served as executive director of the Black Mountain-Swannanoa Center for the Arts in Black Mountain, N.C. Prior to that position, he was the director of education at the Huntington Museum of Art in Huntington, W.Va. In addition to his work in the museum field, he has held teaching positions at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. and the University of North Carolina, Asheville.

He was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Marshall University and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from Ohio University. He was born in Huntington, W.Va. and grew up in Columbus, Ohio; Houston, Texas; and San Jose, Calif.

The Plains Art Museum is a non profit, regional fine arts museum with an exhibition program that presents the work of established and emerging artists of international, national and regional significance. Its service region includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Canada. It provides extensive art educational services to students and teachers in the region with its _Please Touch!_and Making Art suitcases, a comprehensive library of film, slides and videos and the Rolling Plains Art Gallery.
