Southwestern Watercolor Society
Southwestern Watercolor Society is made up of a membership of over 900 members from all over the United States and several foreign countries.
SWS is based in Dallas, Texas. Barbara Ivey - President, and Joseph Melecon - 1st Vice President. Holding their general meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 2917 Swiss, Dallas, TX. SWS will hold its juried "34th Annual Membership Exhibition" opening Sept. 19th thru Nov. 9th, 1997. Top award of $1500.
As a member of Western Federation, a group of 10 watercolor groups in Texas, Arizona, Utah and California, members(SWS) participate in an annual juried show in one of the host cities.
Each month from Sept.-May, SWS holds demonstrations and workshops by national recognized Watercolor Artists, a Holiday Party in December and an information/educational meeting in January. The upcoming schedule includes; Show juror/demonstrator/instructor for Sept. is Elizabeth Yarosz; Michael Schlicting - October; Mary De Loundt-Arendt - February 1998; Scott Moore-March 1998; Betsy Dillard Stroud - April; Arne Westerman - October 1998; and Pat Deadman - November 1998.
