DESCRIPTION
The sea-goddess Leucothea sails across the sea on the back of the fish-tailed god Triton. She is accompanied by her son Palaemon riding a pair of dolphins. Triton is depicted as a merman with a coiling fish-tail in place of legs and the claws and legs of a crab sprouting from his head. He holds a shepherd's crock in his hand as the herdsman of fish. Leucothea holds a spade-shaped frond (seaweed?) in one hand and the wrist of her son in the other.
