Mind of the People

PHYLONOE was a Spartan maiden who was granted immortality as a demigoddess in the train of Artemis. According to Athenagoras Phylonoe was worshipped in Sparta. Her name means "mind of the people" from the Greek words phylĂȘ and noos. She was perhaps identified with Polyboia.
