Frances Brydges1

Frances, Countess of Exeter 2

Frances Brydges was born in 1580.3 She was the daughter of William Brydges, 4th Baron Chandos of Sudeley and Mary Hopton.1 She married, firstly, Sir Thomas Smith before 1603.1 She married, secondly, Thomas Cecil, 1st Earl of Exeter, son of William Cecil, 1st Baron of Burghley and Mary Cheke, in 1610.1 She died in 1663.1
From before 1603, her married name became Smith.1 Her married name became Cecil.

Edward Cecil, 1st Viscount Wimbledon was born on 27 February 1571/72. He was the son of Thomas Cecil, 1st Earl of Exeter and Dorothy Neville.1 He married, firstly, Theodosia Noel, daughter of Sir Andrew Noel and Mabel Harington, on 10 July 1601.3 He married, secondly, Diana Drury, daughter of Sir William Drury and Elizabeth Stafford, on 27 February 1616/17. He married, thirdly, Sophia Zouche, daughter of Sir Edward Zouche, in September 1635. He died on 16 November 1638 at age 66, without male issue.1
He was created 1st Viscount Wimbledon. He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4

Lady Frances Cecil was baptised on 28 February 1580/81 at St. Martin in the Field, London, EnglandG.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Cecil, 1st Earl of Exeter and Dorothy Neville.1,3 She married Nicholas Tufton, 1st Earl of Thanet, son of Sir John Tufton, 1st Bt. and Christian Browne, before 3 September 1602.2 She died on 12 June 1653 at age 72 at Rainham, Kent, EnglandG.2
From before 3 September 1602, her married name became Tufton.
