Hugh Alan Heber-Percy was born on 5 December 1897.2 He was the son of Alan William Heber-Percy and Hon. Susan Alice Portman.2 He married Monica Violet Erskine, daughter of Edmond Waterton Coningsby Erskine and Edith Crombie, on 18 June 1926.1 He died in 1976.2
He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the 15th/19th Hussars.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the South African Staff Corps.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.1

From 1923, her married name became Maynard. Her married name became Heber-Percy.
