Robert Dundas Duncan-Haldane, 1st Earl of Camperdown of Lundie was born on 21 March 1785.1 He was the son of Admiral Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan of Camperdown and Henrietta Dundas.2 He married Janet Hamilton-Dalrymple, daughter of Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple of Bargany, 3rd Bt. and Janet Duff, on 8 January 1805 at North Berwick, Berwickshire, ScotlandG.1 He died on 22 December 1859 at age 74.1
He was given the name of Robert Dundas Duncan at birth.1 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1797 in the Coldstream Guards.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Duncan of Camperdown [G.B., 1797] on 4 August 1804.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Duncan of Lundie, co. Perth [G.B., 1797] on 4 August 1804.1 He held the office of Grand Master of the Freemasons [Scotland] between 1812 and 1814.1 He was created 1st Earl of Camperdown of Lundie, co. Forfar and of Gleneagles, co. Perth [U.K.] on 12 September 1831.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) on 12 May 1848.1

Janet Hamilton-Dalrymple was born on 19 May 1783.1 She was the daughter of Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple of Bargany, 3rd Bt. and Janet Duff.1 She married Robert Dundas Duncan-Haldane, 1st Earl of Camperdown of Lundie, son of Admiral Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan of Camperdown and Henrietta Dundas, on 8 January 1805 at North Berwick, Berwickshire, ScotlandG.1 She died on 17 May 1867 at age 83 at 1 Wilton Terrace, London, EnglandG.1 Her will was proven (by probate) on 19 June 1867, at under £4,000.1
From 8 January 1805, her married name became Duncan-Haldane.1 After her marriage, Janet Hamilton-Dalrymple was styled as Viscountess Duncan of Camperdown on 8 January 1805. After her marriage, Janet Hamilton-Dalrymple was styled as Countess of Camperdown of Lundie on 12 September 1831.

Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple of Bargany, 3rd Bt.1

Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple of Bargany, 3rd Bt. was born circa 1746.2 He was the son of Sir Hew Dalrymple of North Berwick, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Sainthill.2,3 He married Janet Duff, daughter of William Duff of Crombie and Elizabeth Dalrymple, before 1773.3 He died on 13 February 1800.2
He was given the name of Hew Dalrymple at birth.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddingtonshire between 1780 and 1786.2 He held the office of Auditor of the Exchequer in 1786.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Dalrymple, of North Berwick, co. Haddington [N.S., 1698] on 23 November 1790.2 On 12 February 1796 his name was legally changed to Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple of Bargany on inheriting the Bargany estate from his uncle, John Hamilton.2 He gained the rank of officer in the Army.2
